How others are doing management
I saw an interesting item in the 14-20 June 2010 issue of BloombergBusinessweek. The writer, James Warren, pointed out the benefits when a company helps its workers to purchase a home. That is interesting! Homeownership seems to help keep people in the area and it seems to help an area to remain stable. See James Warren, "It Pays to Help Workers Buy a Home," Bloomberg Businessweek, 14-20 June 2010, page 28.
http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/aboutus/topics/SEC_Landingpage.html talks about complimentary online access and it encourages authors to submit their papers to the Security and Communicaion Networks journal. I will have to check this out when I have more time.
Did you see this on page 36 of 5 July 2010 issue of Fortune? It had information on networking for introverts. The four points are (1) tell your story, but not as an "elevator pitch," (2) talk one-on-one with a person instead of a group, (3) bring a person with you for moral support, and (4) arrive early since late arrivers are in a weak position for joining the conversations.
